A 15-week program comprised of nine major components that discuss topics such as self-esteem, effective communication, career development, etiquette, financial planning, etc. Girls meet in a weekly 2-hour group format for 14 weeks, and attend Graduation in the 15th week. Every third weekend of the program, the girls participate in Exposure Activities - which are field trips that introduce the young ladies to sights, sounds, and cultural experiences that they may not be ordinarily accustomed to.

Literacy Program – Books Before Boys

A yearlong Literacy Program that runs in Book Club format., with all titles coinciding with the 9 major components of G.U.R.L The young ladies will be given the selected reading from their Book Club facilitator and will have 3 weeks to complete the book. They will then engage in a monthly meeting session to discuss the book with the facilitators and other participating girls. A Book Club Meeting will last anywhere from 2-4 hours, and will not only consist of book discussion, but journaling, and etiquette training.

Mentoring – Sisterhood for L.Y.F.E.

Recruiting Adult Female Mentors

A Mentoring Program that consists of professional and caring adult female mentors whose main goals are Leading Young Females into Excellence (L.Y.F.E.) Girls will complete an Interests Questionnaire about what activities they like to engage in as well as future career aspirations. They will then be paired with an adult mentor whose background is similar to their interests. Mentors/Mentees will meet one-on-one for 2-4hrs/month and will also engage in group mentoring activities every 3 months.
